How We help

Rehabilitation Consultants

1. Communication – our goal is to keep you regularly updated to reduce your administrative burden, share progress, overcome barriers and ensure that you are prepared to attend case conferences with functional data.

2. Collaboration – we love working alongside rehabilitation consultants, we understand the immense value that you can bring to the RTW process and look to take a cooperative approach to a workers recovery.

3. Flexible Service Delivery – we can consult with workers at home, in local gyms, local hydrotherapy centres, in clinic (Mayfield), or online. This variety of options helps to optimise treatment consistency and outcomes.

4. WorkCover / CTP specialists – our deep understanding of WorkCover / CTP schemes allows us to provide strategic feedback to overcome barriers, so that your worker can focus on their recovery.

5. Capacity Updates – we provide regular capacity update reports to ensure that you always have an accurate idea of a worker’s capacity – this is especially helpful at case conferences to ensure the certificate of capacity is accurate.

6. Outcome Focused – we strive to achieve positive health, life, and return to work outcomes for our workers.

Flexible Service delivery Model

Empowering Injured Workers

We give workers choice and control over how they would like their treatment to take place to help them towards sustainable self-management and positive treatment outcomes.

We can take away the stressors of travel and time by meeting your worker at home.

This mode of service delivery is great if your worker has limited physical mobility, limited access to transport, or injury that leads to reduced confidence in leaving the home.

We find that our workers get great results with home programs as it allows us to show them exercises in the environment they will complete them in when we are not there.

Home visits also provide our practitioners with a deeper understanding of the workers living environment, day to day barriers, and challenges, which then allows us to get appropriate strategies in place.

If your worker has a gym membership or is looking to purchase one, we can attend the gym alongside them to optimise their program, ensure that it is safe and effective, and individualise it to help them achieve their goals. In some circumstances, where reasonable and necessary, their insurer may also be able to assist with a membership for recovery.

As we specialise in working with people with workplace injury/illness, we can often show workers new ways of doing things and new exercise techniques that may not have thought of.

Gym based training is a fantastic way for workers to meet like minded people and re-engage in the community.

It also provides workers with access to specialised equipment (i.e. weights and cardio machines) that can help them become the best version of themselves.

We have great relationships with a large majority of the gyms across our wide service area – chat to us today to find out if we work with your workers gym!

Our Exercise Physiologists are able to complete consultations throughout the local community, whether it be at a local park, beach, walking trail or sporting field, we’ve got your worker covered!

This allows your worker to access their program outside of your scheduled consultations and participate in activity more regularly.

Community consultations are beneficial in that they allow workers to move in a way that is meaningful for them, and they are a great way to promote social participation.

We take pride in regularly communicating progress, barriers, and treatment plans with the multidisciplinary support team to ensure workers are appropriately supported to achieve their desired outcomes.

We are able to access local aquatic centres to deliver hydrotherapy based programs to workers.

Hydrotherapy programs can be especially beneficial for workers if they have a neurological condition, pain condition, have reduced balance, are in an acute/sub-acute phase of rehabilitation, and/or they are someone that enjoys water based activity.

Our fully equipped clinic at: Suite 1, 316 Maitland Road, Mayfield, gives workers access to all of the equipment they could need to improve their health and assist them towards their goals.

The clinic always has a great, supportive environment – workers get all the benefits of a gym and equipment, without the crowds.

The clinic is accessible, with lots of on-street parking nearby; we also have accessible shared amenities on-site.

We are well versed at being able to develop and deliver quality online exercise programs via Microsoft Teams.

This allows your worker to access their program, their exercise physiologist and stay on track, no matter where they are in the country.

We find that certain workers love engaging via telehealth, especially if they are managing reduced mobility or just don’t have the confidence to be seen in person yet.

We have had some fantastic outcomes where workers begin with online programs and then increase their social participation over time as their confidence grows.

We take pride in regularly communicating progress, barriers, and treatment plans with the multidisciplinary support team to ensure workers are appropriately supported to achieve their desired outcomes.

Questions?

FAQs

Absolutely! We have a great mix of male and female Exercise Physiologists of varying ages and levels of experience. When we receive a referral we review it and allocate the worker to the most appropriate practitioner. Please make sure to specify any preferences upon referral and we will do our best to accommodate.

We have great coverage. We deliver Exercise Physiology services to workers across all suburbs in Newcastle, the Central Coast, the Hunter Valley, and Port Stephens.

We can also consult with workers Australia-wide, via telehealth.

For clinic based consultations you can see us at: 1/316 Maitland Road, Mayfield, 2304.

Yes! We have been in operation since 2019 and the longest wait list we have ever had is two weeks, and even that was only for a short period of time. We have managed to hire and retain quality team members which has allowed us to meet increasing demand and avoid wait times.

We are strong advocates of early, active, work specific rehabilitation for workers with acute/sub-acute neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, and/or psychological injury including but not limited to: ligament damage, muscular damage, fractures, postural issues, whiplash, neural conditions, post-surgical, depression, anxiety, stress, and/or PTSD.

We also assist workers with chronic work-related conditions to upgrade their capacity for work, and most importantly improve the quality of life outside of work.

We help with: chronic pain, fear avoidance, musculoskeletal de-conditioning, weight management, restoring range of motion, work specific functional upgrading, and work hardening for durability.

Absolutely!

The quickest and easiest way to start Exercise Physiology with Uplift is to fill out our online referral form – press ‘Quick Referral’ button. Once this form is filled out, it will be received and reviewed by the team manager who can immediately begin processing the referral into our system. Once processed into the system, it is allocated to the most appropriate Exercise Physiologist (considering geography, complexity, gender requests etc.) and the Exercise Physiologist will be in contact to book an initial assessment at an agreed time, date and location.

The initial assessment is where the worker and Exercise Physiologist get to meet for the first time.

The purpose of the initial assessment is for the worker and the Exercise Physiologist to get to know each other, discuss goals, discuss health history, assess current status (questionnaires and basic physical assessments), and most importantly collaborate together to develop an individualised exercise plan.

The initial assessment is usually more talk based, rather than exercise based – the majority of exercises begin after the initial assessment.

At the end of the assessment, once both parties agree on a plan, and a follow up session date, the Exercise Physiologist will give all parties and update and seek approval for treatment from the Insurer – then the worker can focus on treatment and recovery.

No two programs look the same, so we really can’t know this until after the initial assessment.

The reason for this is that we take an individualised approach, not a ‘cookie cutter’ approach. Some of the factors that determine what a program look like include: worker goals, worker exercise preferences and likes, diagnosis/medical conditions, safety, and current evidence around what is effective.

Programs can be delivered at home, in the gym, at a hydrotherapy centre, online or in the community (or a combination of multiple options).

We are proud to independently partner with all SIRA approved Rehabilitation Providers to optimise the health outcomes of injured workers.
